The short film Fabric, directed by Frank Sun, follows Mack, portrayed by b (Netflix, You), a budding photographer who seamlessly navigates the world of New York Fashion Week. When Vanessa, portrayed by Kate Pittard (MAX, Sweethearts), a striking model with a growing social media following, leans on them to bypass the velvet ropes, Mack trades favors to get her into the rooms where fame is made. But as the night unfolds, they watch their value diminish with every flash of her camera-ready smile. Fabric is a meditation on the invisible economy of access—the unspoken transactions between those who capture the spotlight and those who live in its shadow. Drawn from Frank Sun’s years navigating NYFW as a photographer, Fabric reveals a world where status is borrowed and alliances are transactional.
Frank Sun is a filmmaker and cinematographer based in New York City. Fabric draws directly from his decade-long experience inside the fashion world. Frank’s previous film, We are Kings, will be premiering in the prestigious Tribeca Festival June of this year.
